Pierre Debassige, a proud member of M’Chigeeng First Nation in Ontario, Canada, is a dedicated advocate for indigenous rights and youth empowerment. Over the past six years, he has served on the Anishinabek Nation Youth Council, championing causes such as language revitalization, governance, education, treaties, and culture, ensuring indigenous youth have a voice at the highest levels.

As the Anishinabek Nation Male Representative on the Ontario First Nations Young People’s Council (OFNYPC), Pierre amplifies indigenous youth voices and advocates for meaningful change within the provincial government. A talented traditional dancer and singer, Pierre honors his heritage by preserving his culture through dance and song, inspired by his grandfather's teachings.

Pierre’s dedication extends beyond advocacy. He mentored Autumn Peltier, a young indigenous leader, fueling his passion for empowering native youth. Through his advocacy, Pierre has met with ministers, the Prime Minister of Canada, and former President Barack Obama, establishing over 10 active youth councils across Ontario, providing platforms for indigenous youth to voice their concerns.

Attending over 350 conferences covering topics like education, governance, and mental health, Pierre is committed to positive change. As a member of the Great Lakes Guardians Council, he addresses environmental concerns within indigenous communities, collaborating with stakeholders to develop solutions.

Pierre’s passion for uplifting youth shines in his role as a Youth Specialist for our Native American Consulting Company. With his wealth of knowledge and experience, Pierre is dedicated to empowering indigenous youth, ensuring their voices are heard and their cultural heritage preserved. With Pierre on our team, we're poised to make a meaningful difference in the lives of indigenous youth across Turtle Island.
